An institute for teaching computer Science was originally started in Thanjavur town in the year 1985 in the name of “Ram Institute of Computer Science and Technology.” this was the first Govt. Recognized computer training institute in Thanjavur District

Out of experience and prosperity gained in the field of computer education through Ram Institute of Computer Science and Technology the Management of Sri Ponnaiyah Ramajayathammal Educational and Charitable Trust established an Arts and Science College in Thanjavur in the name of “Ponnaiyah Ramajayam College,” during the year 1994-95

This College became the First Arts & Science college to have the AICTE approval for M.C.A., Course in Bharathidasan University

This management has formed Ponnaiyah Ramajayam Institutions from the academic year 2002-2003, Comprising of the following Institutions

Eventhough Our Chairman founded so many institutions and gives lot of quality Higher Education to the students with self disci- pline, he wanted the same quality and self-discipline to be imparted to the school students also. So he started “Ponnaiyah Ramajayam Public Hr.Sec. School,” to educate the students’ community both by theory and practical to fit in with the society and to conquer tomorrow’s technology with human values through our dedicated team

Knowledge being wealth, the teachers at the School have been trained not only to provide knowledge to the students but also to train them to acquire it on their own, by searching and encourag- ing self study and inquisitive thinking.

To keep the students abreast of the latest developments in different fields of knowledge they are taken to the library, computer centre, etc
